About us

To help slow the spread of coronavirus the 2020 exhibition was online only.

The Canterbury Art Exhibition held its 48th exhibition in March, 2020. From its inception in 1973 it has gained a reputation for its contemporary outlook and high artistic standards. This greatly anticipated annual event is held at Canterbury Primary School, Molesworth Street, Canterbury.

The Exhibition showcases approximately 600 individual artworks from over 120 talented Australian artists. A highlight of the 2020 exhibition is the work of two wonderfully talented local feature artists, Caz Sroczynski and Melinda Pile.

Carolyn Sroczynski Feature Artist - CAZ SROCZYNSKI

Born and raised in the East Gippsland region of Victoria, Caz has received recognition for her artwork in Fine Art and Graphic Design and has regularly entered work in several art exhibitions across Victoria, NSW and Queensland. In 2014 and 2016 Caz was the winner of the 44th St Kevin’s College Art Show “Best Modern Painting”.

She is represented in galleries across Victoria, Western Australia and NSW. Her artwork has been selected for many private and commercial collections around Australia and overseas.

Caz has teamed up with Mercedes-Benz Berwick and created a one of a kind piece of artwork in celebration of their newly opened AMG Performance Centre for the 2017 Grand Prix.

Caz has also collaborated with Huxter Home Gifts and Soaps, supplying art images for their packaging.

Her style has a unique edge and appeals to a wide audience. Caz’s art says volumes about her life and reflects an individual perspective that is diverse and rare in today’s modern artistic approach.

Melinda Pile Feature Artist - MELINDA PILE

Melinda developed a passion for the natural world during her botany studies. That love of nature and organic forms can be seen in the stylised landscapes Melina produces.

What started for Melinda as a love of intricate watercolour plant and insect studies has evolved over recent years into a passion for producing bolder acrylic pieces.

Melinda uses pattern, texture and cartoon styling to represent the world around her.

Melinda says that today, her inspirations are still largely the natural world, but she is also fascinated by the concept of how people in rural and urban communities relate to each other and their environment.

Melinda recently won a Highly Commended Award from Oak Hill Gallery for her painting ‘Peninsular’.

All art works are sold on a commission basis with the proceeds directly benefiting Canterbury Primary School.
