About Bernadine Johnson

Bernadine was born in Utopia NT. She is from a long line of artists and has learnt to paint from her Aunties. She is married with three young children and lives in Adelaide with her husband Stephen Martin who is also an artist. To Indigenous people, the bush is like our chemist shop. Medicine leaves are boiled or crushed for various healing qualities. The painting of the medicine leaves and seeds is celebrating health and abundance.
