About Beth Gibbeson

Colour, explosion, emotion, and harmony are the fundamental basis and exploration of Beth's most recent paintings. Her work has a definite identification with herself. It has come from the thought of certain ideas, passions, and energies that escape her mind through the tips of her fingers onto the canvas. Beth's paintings are also reflective and, very importantly, inspired by her closeness to many enchanted memories. Beth contributes many emotions and personalities to the colours, shapes and spaces that take place within and against one another. Identifying with these elements during the process of her painting enables Beth to develop further as a painter.

The working methods of Beth's painting involves the process of layering oil paint on canvas. She always begins by applying gladwrap over her canvas, then rolls paint over the areas where the canvas is bare. This method is done to develop line work behind the layering of the oils. Beth applies this method also to create an effect while being in the state of the unconscious. She allows the line and shape to take a direction of its own. After this, she applies her own thoughts and ideas in creating the final product.

Beth grew up in Sale, Victoria, connecting immediately to the magnificence of the country. Where, from there at 12 years old she moved to Egypt, Cairo, spending the early years of my teenage life grasping the raw beauty of Egypt's culture, language, smell, and atmosphere. Beth considers herself lucky that at such an early age she began to find satisfaction and a certain calmness during the process of creativity. This has all led Beth to completing her Bachelors and Post Graduate Degree in Fine Arts Painting at R.M.I.T. Currently, Beth is completing a Diploma in Interior Design and also busily painting in her studio-space with great commitment towards her work.
