About Eddy Crosby

For me, making pictures is about conveying ideas and telling stories. In my paintings, I enjoy showing humorous situations, weird characters and surreal combinations inspired by dreams, strange tales, old movies and pop culture ephemeral.

I am fascinated by the art and design of the 1950's and 1960's and my pictures combine and evoke the visual style of those times. I am attracted to stylisation, the contrasts of straight and curved lines and rich saturated colours.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Eddy Crosby was born in 1962 in Sri Lanka. He migrated to the UK where he graduated in art and design at London's Goldsmith's college. He presently lives and works as an illustrator and fine artist in Melbourne, Australia.

As an illustrator he has worked for many publishers including Penguin books, Blake Educational, Reader's Digest Asia and Woman's Weekly. He has also illustrated two picture books. The subject matter of his paintings are inspired by 20th century pop culture and his style is often cartoon-like using rich saturated palettes.

He has exhibited in various galleries overseas and across Melbourne.
