About Fréya

Currently based in London & spending her summers painting on Phillip Island, Freya enjoys travelling extensively around the world and drawing inspiration from wherever she visits. Her work is one of purity of vision with a forever optimistic view of the world. Her quirky and though provoking pieces are much loved and sort after and are held in many public and private collections around the world, including The Soho Corporation (New York), The ANZ Bank collection and The Australia Post collection (Australia). fréya began her working life as an Art Director for an advertising agency but quickly had that uncomfortable feeling you get when something doesn't fit. She left to start her exploration of the big wide world and along the way began to think about a career. Illustration seemed a lovely logical option, though she had never realised that this was actually considered an occupation, and was delighted to discover people were willing to pay for what she had always enjoyed doing.

She has worked extensively across Australia and London providing illustrations for most of the larger publications, including The Age and The Australian newspapers, The Times, Business Review Weekly and Cosmopolitan magazines, as well as Advertising and Design houses. In 2003 she was commissioned to provide illustrations for the entire new look for the ANZ Bank. Other clients include The Wilderness Society, Australia Post, The Law Foundation and Jindaree Wines, amongst many others. She also collaborates on designs for AK childrens range, including toys, books and homewares.

Select solo exhibitions include Yering Station, Gallery Phillip Neville, The Melbourne International Flower Show, Australia, The Coningsby Gallery, London. She has also been featured artist of The Canterbury Art Show. Other exhibitions include 101 Collins St, Raw Studios, Dux Artists Management group shows, Strathcona Art Show and Bermondsey Art Show, London. She also regularly exhibits at Forge 2 Gallery, UK and Mingara Gallery, Australia. Awards include; Phillips National Illustration Award, Telecom Design Award, Anti-Cancer Council Art Award and DMB & B Scholarship.
