About Jonathan Hannon
Jonathan was born in the Snowy Mountains, NSW and holds a degree in Graphic Design, BA from Swinburne Institute. He has lectured in Graphic Design at the Caulfield Campus of Monash University.
Venus, likes the 'Urchins', is essentially a silkscreen process. Jonathan's technique is that between silkscreen prints he paints directly onto the canvas. This makes each canvas unique and different, with a life and direction of it's own.
The image is, firstly, enhanced and manipulated within a computer and then a 'dot' screen is created that gives a large dot, or hole, for the ink and paint to pass through cleanly without compromising on detail of the image.
Jonathan starts with a background (edition of 25 per colour) and then builds up in layers. He keeps adding layers of silkscreen print then brush work until the image is indeed a Venus in her own right.
Jonathan exhibits regularly at 'Jetty Upstairs' in Cowes, 'The Continental' in Greville Street, Prahran and 'Revolver Upstairs' in Chapel Street, Prahran.
