Leigh Knight

Leigh Knight grew up in rural Victoria and completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts at RMIT Melbourne. Soon after completion of her degree Leigh left Australia to continue her studies in Europe where she lived and worked for many years.

Now her love of travel and fascination for the synchronicity of architecture and landscape in Europe imbues Leigh’s work. Taking inspiration from the works of Paul Klee, Gabriela Muenter and Ginger Riley, Leigh’s painting use colour and form to evoke memories of place.

Leigh uses abstraction in an attempt to capture the spirit of places she has visited. ‘I don’t want my works to be a realistic depiction of any one place, but rather want people to be reminded of places they have traveled to and enjoyed’ says Leigh of her work.

Leigh has been teaching art for a number of years and has exhibited both in Australia and Europe.
