About Leonie Amerena
Melbourne born, Geelong sculptor, Leonie Amerena began studies in fine art while living in Michigan, USA in the late 80's. On her return to Australia in the early 90's, she was introduced to welding and the sculptural potential of recycled metals.
Excited by her ability to manipulate the strength and mass of metal into sculptures of remarkable variety, Leonie has continued to expand the form and texture of her works. Her art honours the resilience of these materials in our seemingly transient and disposable world.
Leonie has exhibited in many group exhibitions in Melbourne and Geelong, and completed many commissioned works for individual and corporate collectors, as well as local institutions. She was represented by Gallery 123 at Art Melbourne 07.
