About Lorna Gerard

My artworks are a culmination of years of journeying to other countries such as Italy, France India and outback Australia, but also the most importantly the journey to the self. Some of my art has come from a metaphysical insight whilst travelling and studying the Masters works and relating them to my own feelings and life. Acknowledging sacred art that comes from the heart and speaks a universal language throughout many cultures and different philosophies. Painting for me is not only cathartic but also a celebration of the wonder and joy in life as we transcend the loss of loved ones and learn that it is all about love, whilst learning the steps to this wonderful dance of life. I love the joy of painting especially using the medium of silk because of its properties and the process of how silk is made, speaks of our own journeys of metamorphism, silk is strong yet soft and flowing, with dyes of the brightest translucent colours, I am amazed with the wonderful things that take place on the silk. I love art being creative and life. I believe my artworks reflect this. I have had nine solo exhibitions, and am a winner of several awards Lorna’s works can be seen at Panoply Gallery, 1418 Malvern Rd., Glen Iris. www.panoplygallery.com.au.
