About Mandy Hunniford

Mandy Hunniford is the fourth generation of her family to come from Queenstown, and now lives and works in Karoola, Tasmania. She has held 17 solo exhibitions and has participated in more than 58 group exhibitions since 1990. Hunniford’s work is represented in public and private collections nationally and internationally and she has been a finalist in a number of art prizes including the Glover Prize, Bay of Fires Art Prize and the Tasmanian Art Award. The Almond Garden series investigates several historical events and individuals such as the large almond garden planted at Meadowbank by John McLeod in 1827 and the extravagant ball he held at his property in 1840. McLeod arranged for hundreds of red Chinese lanterns to light the road from Campbell Town to Meadowbank through the almond garden. Mandy’s works can be seen at Panoply Gallery, 1418 Malvern Rd., Glen Iris. www.panoplygallery.com.au.
