About Rick Matear

Rick Matear was born in 1960. He was awarded the Sarah Levi Scholarship in 1982. During 1983 and 1994 he travelled and painted in Europe. Lived in the Grampians where among other things he painted and planted trees in 1992-94 and now lives and works in Melbourne. The artist loves gardening, teaches art and would like to spend more time at the beach.

In 2001 Rick was artist-in-residence for Turtle Island, Fiji. His stretchers are hand made which is good exercise for him and made from recycled wood.

Rick holds a Degree of Fine Art, Victorian College of the Arts.
