About Sandie Wright

Sandie Wright Biography

Sandie Wright is a Melbourne based artist with a multi-disciplinary practice working with mosaics, ceramics, cast glass, copper, bronze and wire. Her sculptural mosaics are playful, and humorous, alive with color and movement. Her increasingly popular and continuing series of giant mosaic apples display personal narratives which explore human relationships, fable, religion and the world in which we live.

Basket making and weaving with non-conventional materials is also something she is exploring.

Her education includes, Diplomas in Primary Teaching and Visual Arts and a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Sculpture) at Monash University.

Since graduating in 2008 she has been in many shows, and her awards include: Finalist and Highly Commended in Toorak Sculpture Show in 2006, Yering Outdoor Sculpture Exhibition, 2009, Peoples Choice Award in M.A.A.N.Z exhibition 2012 and Finalist in aRteCYCLE Incinerator Arts Complex Show.

As well as private commissions, she has been working in schools as an Artist in Residence. And in 2013 she is exhibition co-coordinator of the Tesserae 2013 exhibition with the Mosaic Association of Australia and New Zealand (M.A.A.N.Z).

She is also exhibiting again in the Toorak Sculpture Show in 2013 with another in her popular Apple Series.
