Melbourne based designer Kain Lucas has a history of achievement in a variety of areas including bespoke furniture production and lighting design. After completing an apprenticeship in Furniture Making in 1999, Kain started Loop Design Studio in the quite village of Mount Macedon, producing custom made solid timber pieces for local clients. During this period Kain developed the ‘Heisei’ lighting range, combining traditional materials with laser cutting technology to create a unique range that has been exported internationally.

Kain took some time out for travel in 2003 – 04, and whilst living in London in 2004, Kain landed a job with fashion house Stella McCartney and also worked for UK design guru Terence Conran in his flagship Conran Shop store in Chelsea. This experience helped to shape Kain’s ambitions in the design field and in 2005, Kain returned home and launched Kain Lucas Design.

Kain Lucas Design represents a fresh approach to contemporary furniture design, offering original and cleverly designed products with an innovative approach to design, materials and technology.

Kain’s ambition is to create intelligently designed products that provide real solutions for real needs. Kain aims to design products that can be manufactured as efficiently as possible, from sustainable materials which will have minimal impact on our environment, and last but not least, are both beautiful and pleasurable to use.
