Anita Dammersmith

Anita Dammersmith was born in Melbourne, and has travelled extensively through Australia, Asia and Europe.

Studying photography at RMIT, she received an opportunity to work at a creative level in the television industry. This opportunity continued for in excess of 20 years during which time she was involved in international and local drama, international and local sporting events and news and current affairs. It was during long days on set and traveling that she turned to painting as an outlet to express and interpret her experiences.

Specialising largely in abstract images, Anita uses colours that gives her works a unique edge, providing a “ look of today “ using hues and tones that compliment any decor.

Anita began working with an interior designer to mould a look by adding a splash of colour and/or bold brushstrokes to add interest in any room. A layering effect and greater texture add more interest to her works.

Her current works including still life, landscapes and nudes created in her truly unique and individual style are currently on display in cafes and homes in Melbourne including Watts Cooking ( Union Road , Surrey Hills ), Maple Homewares ( Whitehorse Road, Balwyn and Carnells in Canterbury. Recently two of her designs were chosen to be made into exclusive handmade rugs currently near completion in Nepal.

Motivated by nature, she interprets the beauty of trees, pebbles, rocks and simple shapes and creates an abstract form combining it with subtle hues and tones and a unique brushstroke layering. Recent exhibitions include Canterbury Art show, Strathcona and St. Kevins Art shows. In addition, one of her nudes can be seen in the May 2008 and March 2010 edition of Home Beautiful Magazine, and various editions of Melbourne Weekly Magazine where various houses across Melbourne have graced her works.
