About Donald Ramsay

Donald Ramsay is a career artist who has held regular exhibitions in Melbourne and Sydney.

Interpretation of the Australian natural wilderness landscape is the predominant theme in his art.

He is proud to be part of the tradition of landscape painting in Australia.

Donald was born and grew up in Melbourne, and spent a several years as a secondary teacher before committing to full-time painting.

He continues to be inspired by Cape Otway, the Yarra Valley, and regular painting trips to outback and northern Australia.

His individualistic and intuitive approach embodies his passion for landscape painting, and for the landscape itself, and a quest to paint in authentic and direct response to the natural world.

Smaller works completed on location are used to develop larger paintings back at his Fairhaven studio.

Donald has received many awards for his paintings which are represented in significant private and public collections including Geelong and Castlemaine Regional Galleries.

Recent exhibitions of his work have been held at Artarmon Galleries, Sydney and Quadrant Gallery, Melbourne.
