About Geoff Cunningham
Geoff Cunningham “I love exploring the beauty, drama and humour in everyday life. I like to challenge our modern way of life, often by contrasting it with the past.”
Exhibition History: I have successfully exhibited at The Hong Kong (2017) and Singapore (2016) Contemporary Art shows. In recent years, I have also been a feature artist at several Melbourne art shows such as Canterbury, St.Kevins, Mt.Eliza, Fairfield Art4All, Brunswick, Mountview, & Roberts McCubbin.
I don’t usually enter art prizes as they tend to be very fickle, but…finalist in the 2016 Gallipoli Art Prize, finalist in the $150,000 Signature of M (2008).
I have held several solo exhibitions including Hawthorn Studio Gallery (with Joe Blundell - 2018), Stonehouse Gallery (2014), Firehouse Restaurant (Ringwood 2014-2016) and Yellow Door Cafe (Albert Park 2010)
About Me: Originally from Albury, New South Wales, I moved to Melbourne to study Graphic Design, graduating from Swinburne University. After working in the graphic arts industry for fifteen years, I made the leap into the world of fine art. Completely self taught, I have worked very hard to develop a unique style and have been a full-time artist since 2007. I specialise in stencil paintings, but have also worked extensively with acrylic paint and linocut printing.
I am currently represented by The Manyung Gallery Group (Mt.Eliza, Sorrento, Malvern), Seaview Gallery in Queenscliff, and the Hawthorn Studio Gallery.
I am a full time artist, but I also work one day a week at Camberwell Girls Grammar School as an art technician, after initially undertaking an artist in residence stint in 2016. I have completed many private commissions and portraits and have also donated works to charity auctions such as Royal Children’s Hospital Gala Ball, The Green Gecko Project and The Edmund Rice Foundation.
