Hugh EvansHugh’s work continues to be dominated by the use of intaglio, (a process of printing from an engraved design). It plays a central role in his search for the illusive purity of the two dimensional plane. Using a reduced, soft palette, and enhancing his images with embossing, he seeks to capture the mood of the Australian landscape, complete with its mysterious and seemingly endless vistas. He encourages the viewer to visually wander through his works and discover new and unexplored nuances of colour, from the undulations of the embossing. He asks that you are not too analytical in viewing his art, but to let the ‘work flow over you’ and take from it what you may. For more on Hugh Evans see www.hughgallery.com |
