Ju Yuen Chew has a broad fine arts background, from weaving, to puppetry. Her paintings are informed by these varied elements.

Recent awards include, winning the Darebin Art Show Acquisitive Prize(2004), the Postcards for Happiness Prize (2006), The Darebin Art Show People's Choice Award (2006), and being a finalist in La Trobe University Acquisitive Art Prize (2005) and finalist in Robert Jacks Drawing Prize (2006).

Ju Yuen is currently undertaking her MFA in drawing.
