About Julie Guinan

I live on a farm in the Southern Riverina, with my husband Peter. We have two adult children and two grandchildren. I have always enjoyed my gardening but over the years have found it hard to find just the right piece for a certain corner in the garden. Five years ago I heard of the course welding for women and a whole new life began for me.

What started as an idea to make a few very simple creations as I taught myself along the way, becoming more adventurous with each new project, has now become a busy and rewarding schedule of creating for many different types of people and many different types of sculptures.

I have had no formal art training, however my grandmother and great aunt were talented artists, neither having any formal teaching so I guess there must be some genetic influence in my bones.

I get most of my inspiration from nature, life on the farm and the bush.

I have a few simple pieces of equipment, Plasma cutter, Mig welder, Old axle for an anvil, Angle grinder and a Hammer I borrowed from my husbands tool supply with no intention of returning, couple of pairs of multi grips and a few clamps and that can create just about anything.

I use some old farm equipment and some new steel to make my creations. There is no end to the ideas, just not enough time to create them all.

It is very rewarding to create something for someone and to see their enjoyment when they take delivery of it, and place it in their garden.

It has given me an opportunity to meet some lovely people who share a love of the unusual, quirky, or just ornamental.
