Monique St Clair
About Monique St Clair
Monique St Clair is a former student of Canterbury Primary school, completing her high school years at local girls school Strathcona BGGS where she graduated in 2012. Monique was awarded the Barbara Green Memorial award in her final year at Strathcona. Recognised for her achievement in Fine Art, the award contributed funds towards her year twelve folio exploring the ideas around the inevitability of death and the fragility of life. Since leaving school Monique has explored a variety of styles, choosing to submit a monochromic pair of elephant watercolours to the show. By using a single hue of 'burnt umber', she attempts to capture the peaceful and gentle nature of the beasts in a relaxed and passive approach to realism.
