About Narelle Telford

Since graduating from National Art School, Narelle Telford has consistently been selected for hanging in Art Shows in which she continues to win awards. She has held many solo and group exhibitions, both in regional and city areas; Narelle's work is represented in corporate, private and overseas collections.

The feelings and emotions of a subject are of prime importance to Narelle and this dictates the development, colour and medium used. The purpose of her art is to impart the sensation of things, as she perceives term and not necessarily as they are; so the interpretation of a piece is left to the individual. This allows the viewer to engage with the work on a deeper level. Whether contemporary or abstract, the style and subject matter vary and her work tends to be done in a "series" with a recurring theme. Each series can be painted differently than the one before; this does not preclude her from expressing herself in strong and highly individualistic pieces.

Narelle has a great passion for this Earth and has an adventurous spirit. Extensive travel through Europe, Africa, Asia and America; together with treks in Australia, on foot and by camel, through the Simpson Desert; trips throughout the Outback and along the Darling River to Kinchega and Mungo National Parks; plus her experience as an Artist in Residence at Uluru, coupled with a recently completed trip backpacking through Yucatan and New Mexico; have all heavily influenced her work.
