Sally MumfordBorn in Zimbabwe Sally arrived in Australia in January 2005. Art has always been her first love but she was only able to begin painting, part time, in 1997 while owning and running her own Calendar Company. Coming to Australia has enabled Sally to pursue her longing to study and become an artist. She has attended workshops and is currently pursuing Advanced Diploma in Fine Arts at the Riverina Institute of TAFE. Sally feels quite at home in Australia, as the Australian bush is not unlike the Zimbabwean bush, wide open plains with a 180º vista of blue skies, the land a mixture of terracotta, burnt umber and raw sienna. Sally had her first solo exhibition African Eyes in the Wagga Wagga Art Gallery in 2009. She received a Highly Commended in the 2010 Wagga Wagga Art Prize. Was a finalist in the 2010 Outback Art Prize, the Country Scapes 2009 Country Energy Art Prize for Landscape Painting, the 2009 Outback Art Prize and 2008 Mortimer Art Prize. She has received several awards including people’s choice in the Rotary Art Show Wagga Wagga 2007 and has exhibited in group exhibitions in Victoria and New South Wales and her work is represented in private collections around the world.
