About Alexandra Rearden

Alexandra trained as a secondary Art Teacher in 1957 - 1959 at Caulfield Technical College and R.M.I.T. She taught at Alexandra High School and Blackburn High School until leaving to raise her family.

Subsequently, she has taught adult groups in San Remo, Croydon, Ringwood, and Heidelberg, and continues to teach small groups.

She has specialised in watercolour for 10 years and has a particular focus on tonal qualities and the creation of atmosphere.

She has organised and significantly contributed to exhibitions by her groups of students, such as the Acacia Ridge/U3A Croydon Exhibition at Wyreena in 1999.

Over the years she has been a participant in major exhibitions. She was the winner of the Deans' Art Prize for watercolour at the Camberwell Rotary Exhibition in 2001 and won first prize for watercolour at the Ivanhoe Art Show in 2002 and 2005. In 2004, her watercolour landscape received "highly commended" certificate at the Camberwell Rotary Exhibition.

In 2005, Alexandra held a solo exhibition in "Coopers Trattoria" restaurant, Bundoora as well as an exhibition at the Preston "Firestation Cafe" from Nov 2005 to Jan 2006.

Her work has also been hung in selected galleries and numerous private collections.

Alexandra is interested in landscaping, embroidery, swimming, and enjoying life with her Italian greyhound.
