About Alice Brooks
An emerging British Artist who studied for her bachelor’s degree in Fine Art at the University of Central England and currently living in Melbourne.
Experiences in traveling throughout Europe, the Middle East and South East Asia over the last fifteen years have greatly influenced the style of her work.
Alice’s work consists of decorative processes, fabrics and painterly methods. Working with the notion of female inner strength, Alice often uses images of trees, a symbol of the masculine, combined with delicate lace and motifs of flowers, symbols of the feminine. Alice refers to the stretcher as the skeleton and the unprimed canvas a representation of skin, exploring the notion of conceal and reveal.
By applying paint with her hands, Alice engages in a sensual and tactile process.
