About Beverley Ross
Drawing is a passion and remains a lifetime pursuit. Life drawing has been a 'constant' but Beverley finds all subjects interest worthy. She uses Figure to study anatomy, Still Life to play with medium and Landscape to explore colour. Turning a subject into a painting requires seeing the effects and subtleties of the real world and having the creativity, empathy and understanding to depict it. Drawing provides Beverley with that understanding.
Her academic record begins in 1975 when she entered into a Diploma of Fine Art, Majoring in Drawing, at Prahran Tech. Although not completing the course, she continued to do what she loved for over two decades working all mediums. Art was simply something she did, as opposed to something she did as a livelihood.
Beverley attained High Distinctions in Illustration in the first year of a Diploma of Art and Design at Chisholm Institute when she returned to study part-time in 1998.
In 1999, Beverley spent a valuable year as Artist-in-Residence at the Boat House Gallery in Frankston.
She has been engaged in private commissions for portrait and varied subject matter.
