About Edyta Hoxley
Edyta is an established botanical artist working from Melbourne. She lives at the foot of the Dandenongs with her husband and three young sons.
Edyta first developed an appreciation for botanical art during her university studies in the natural sciences. She has always felt a strong affinity for the natural landscape with its rich colours and textures. In order to seriously pursue her interest in botanical art, Edyta began studying about seven years ago with several well-known Australian and international teachers. Since then she has successfully exhibited and sold works both in Melbourne and Sydney and is now a well established artist represented in the State Botanical Art Collection at the National Herbarium as well as many private collections here and overseas.
Her favourite subjects are Australian native plants which she portraits combining the best elements of traditional botanical illustration with contemporary botanical art. Edyta has been a member of the Botanical Art Society of Australia since its early days and is currently the convenor of the Botanical Illustrators Group of the Friends of the Royal Botanic Gardens in Melbourne. She is currently busily preparing for the Melbourne Botanic Gardens’ popular biennial “Art of Botanical Illustration” exhibition to be held in November this year.
