About Elizabeth Vercoe

"I have been given many gifts in this lifetime. My heart holds close many warm friendships which I value dearly. I have also been granted one of the most treasured prizes to be bestowed upon a human being - a second chance at life."

Liz's artworks are the embodiment of all that comes along with this: hope, joy, intensity, love, urgency, courage, friendship and faith. Her paintings always emerge from her desire to capture the sparkle – life essence or light – which is inherent in all life.

To pick up a paintbrush is to embark upon a journey. The excitement is palpable as she sets off on each new adventure. Liz loves the moment of anticipation when she stands in front of a blank canvas. She loves the explosions of colour and the freedom of creation. Watery, messy globules of paint cascading and dancing over the paper. Space and time collide. Colour and light merge.

Liz's days are often spent engaged in the rituals of life with young children. In the midst of this activity – or in spite of it! – space is made available for her to paint; sometimes a the kitchen table, perhaps under a tree in the garden or down by the river…(She often receives a little helping handprint or interesting twig to enhance her work!)

Painting sustains and nourishes her and, along with her growing children, gently reminds her to "live in each moment".
