Enid Ratnam-Keese

ENID RATNAM-KEESE. Completed studies in Sculpture at the RMIT, a BA in English-History, UNE Armidale and a Postgraduate Certificate in Writing at the University of Technology, Sydney. She has held over ten solo exhibitions in Australia and one in France. She has been part of National and International group exhibitions and was invited as guest artist to three Print Triennials, in France, Italy and India. She has taught Painting and Printmaking in various Tertiary Institutions in NSW. Through the NSW Department of Education and Training she ran workshops in Printmaking for HSC teachers and Talented Students in NSW. In 1980 she developed the technique of Paper Drypoint printing which cuts out some of the health hazards involved in printmaking and which she still uses today. This technique, while concealing the occasional social issues which concern her, is closely allied to Chinese paper-cuts and the Shadow puppetry from her Malaysian background. Enid Ratnam-Keese is represented in the following Public Art Collections: The Australian War Memorial Contemporary Collection; the City Museum, Cremona, Italy; Gallerie d’Art Contemporain, Auvergne, France; the Mosman Art Collection; the Qld State Library Artists Books; Wagga Wagga City Art Gallery Collection NSW and the Sydney University Union Art Collection NSW. Her works have been featured in Oz Arts NSW; Artists in Action, (AWM Publication); New Art Four (Craftsman House Publication), Art Monthly; the Sydney Morning Herald; the Canberra Times and Art in Australia.
