About Helen Crossley
Helen first took up painting in 1970 as a teenager and began formal art training at Balmain Fine Art Studio in Oakleigh. She worked predominately in oils and also created charcoal and pen and ink drawings.
In 1978 - 1980 she was commissioned to paint portraits of two past presidents for the Rats of Tobruk Association in Albert Park.
In 2001 Helen returned to the traditions of painting after working for 15 years as a computer graphics artist and project manager for large scale commercial projects.
Helen’s influences in her art are the sky and the sea. Now working with pastels, Helen has discovered that this medium naturally enhances the synergy between sky and water.
Also a keen sailor, Helen recently established Yacht Portraits and has her own website. You can see samples of her seascapes and yacht portraits at -www.yachtportraits.com.au
