About Jenny Cowie
Although greatly admiring the work of traditional potters, Jenny looks for new direction in order to create her own style. Inspired by her former colleagues at Potwork Orange, she was seduced by colour and now paints on clay before glazing and firing.
Jenny does not aim to make social or polictical statements but like creating sculptural pieces which are both usefuland fun, and also, hopefully, bring joy. She makes birdbaths, mythical birds, candleholders, and domestic ware decorated with caricatures of animal and flowers. Jenny enjoys scavenging for scap metal for "feathered" additions for the sculptures.
Jenny Cowie's work will be exhibited at R.S.P.C.A. at Victorian Artists' Society, 430 Albert Street, East Melbourne from 25 until 28 July 2002.
Her work is also available from Potters Cottage, Warrandyte, Blue Wren Gallery, Nunawading, Cools Stores, Red Hill South and Bulleen Art and Garden, Bulleen.
