About Jenny Kontogiannis

Jenny Kontogiannis (b.1966). My studies in the Arts began at Melbourne University, where I studied 4 years for my Bachelor of Education in Art and Design. Soon after graduation I became a cofounder of Steaming Ink Design, where I was involved in Advertising, Graphics, Design Layout and Photography. From there I went on to teach all aspects of the fine arts, in various Secondary Colleges where I held the position of Faculty Coordinator and mentor of art students for almost ten years. I have travelled to many countries to paint and view the work of past and present masters. I in turn, am now driven to create a visual response to that which inspires me. Today I work as a fulltime artists from my home studio, and have surprisingly found my resting place not amongst the graphic designers but the traditionalist working with oil on canvas. My paintings tend to be relatively large in scale and luscious in colour. Subject matter changes with my mood and environment and the style can be seen as realism/surrealism as Salvador Dali is my favorite artist. Private collections of my work are held in Greece, Singapore, Canada and United Kingdom.

I am currently putting together a variety of pieces for a group exhibition -2011 GACLM art show- Steps Gallery Carlton
