About John Armstrong
John started painting in 1988 after a course with Anita Barley at Burnley Horticulture School and continued in 1991 with classes with Jenny Phillips and in 1998 with Anne-Marie Evans.
He only illustrates Australian native plants and has been involved in the writing and illustrating of "Flora of Melbourne" 1991, illustrations for the glossary of "Brachyscomes of Australia" 1995, illustrations of Pultenaeas and Almaleea for the "Flora of Victoria" Vol. 3, 1996. He has an interest in studying native plants and has travelled widely throughout Australia collecting and studying them over 40 years.
Currently painting for an exhibition to be held with other Melbourne Botanical artists, in Osaka Botanic Gardens, Japan in June 2004.
