About Kate Gorman

Kate Gorman is an established artist who has lived in the North East Valleys region of Victoria since 1982. During this time she has travelled extensively – drawing inspiration from places including Sri Lanka, Guatemala, Croatia and Italy. Kate works in an expressive, painterly technique, building layers of vibrant color in an abstract style. ‘My art reflects my interpretation of the landscape around me and my experiences in daily life – working on our farm in the King Valley or travelling through the countryside in Tuscany.’ ‘I invite the viewer into a happier space – giving them a hint of my interpretation of the subject matter – then urge them to complete the story. My hope, is that my work will trigger a personal experience or memory or connection to a special place.’ Gorman’s CV includes a background in fashion design and completed her formal studies in Visual Arts and Design in 2006. The recipient of various awards including the 2009 Wangaratta Jazz Art Award and 2010 King Valley Art Show Water category – Kate’s work is held in public and private collections Private collections in Australia, Italy, New Zealand, Wales and China.
