About Lesley Keevers
I was born in Canberra and grew up in the Yass district of NSW.
In 1995 I started painting while living in America. In 1996, I decided to study art formally, and moved to Adelaide where I was accepted into the North Adelaide School of Art.
After two years I transferred to the Canberra School of Art at the Australian National University, from where I graduated in 2000 with a Bachelor Degree in Visual Arts. I received four Emerging Artist’s Awards for my encaustic paintings. In 2009 I completed a Masters Degree in Visual Arts at Monash University, Victoria.
My subject matter is concerned with conveying the beauty, fragility and the essence of nature. The paintings emulate natural elements that comprise of either, Oil or Acrylic
painting methods. These methods create surfaces of dynamic, refracted light for the subject matter being painted.
My challenge as an artist has been to develop fresh and innovative techniques to express my feelings and ideas through these my painting methods and subject .
