About Lisa Sokolowski
2020 artist statement Lisa Sokolowski
Lisa Sokolowski is a Melbourne based abstract artist. From a very early age she derived enormous joy from creating and has been painting for over 20 years finding this to be immensely fulfilling whilst raising her family of four children. She recently earnt both a Diploma (2016) and an Advanced Diploma,HD (2018) of Visual arts at RMIT and is currently undertaking a Bachelor of Fines Arts there. Over the last two years she was involved in four seperate group exhibtions at the Who Gallery in Melbourne. In 2018 she was awarded 3rd prize for the Postcards Award at RMIT and in 2019 one of her graduate paintings was selected to be part of the prestigious global law firm, Clyde and Co's Graduate Student Art Prize. When it comes to her art practise, colour is her main objective. In her latest series of paintings she has developed an interest in hard edge, geometric abstraction which she investigates colour and its various combinations to create unique pieces of art. She loves the idea of limitless combinations of colour, patterns and shapes but the overriding importance for Lisa is the joy she is able to evoke from audiences when they view her paintings.
