About Louise Price

Louise Price was educated in Melbourne where she graduated from the Melbourne State College with a Bachelor of Secondary Education (Art and Craft), majoring in Textiles in 1977.

She lives on the Bellarine Peninsula with her husband and four daughters. After teaching for some years, Lousie furthered her own study of painting through classes and workshops. She continues to develop her own versatile style with pastels, drawings and especially watercolour. She regularly attends portrait and life drawing sessions.

Louise exhibits regularly and has received numerous awards in Melbourne and throughout Victoria. In 1997 she was awarded the prestigious National Alice Bale Award for Watercolour. Her paintings are in private collections in Australia and worldwide, including Hong Kong where Louise held her first solo exhibition in 1993. Louise took part in an exhibition in Taiwan in 1998 in a joint Asia-Pacific Watercolour Expo. Louise is a member of the Geelong Art Society and the Watercolour Society of Victoria.

In September 2001 Louise travelled to Italy where she painted on location resulting in a very successful exhibition. In fact, the exhibtiion funded her next trip to Italy in 2002. Whilst in Italy, Louise was a joint exhibitor with artists from Italy, France, Brazil and Australia. Her second Italian exhibition in 2003, featuring Italian culture and scenery, was also a resounding success. She hopes to continue to travel throughout Europe gathering subject material for future exhibitions.

The delicate and transparent qualities of watercolour and the immediacy of pastels are a continual fascination and challenge to Louise and lend themselves to her versatile style. Her ability to capture light and atmosphere is displayed with great skill in all her work, which includes still life, landscape, seascapes, botanical studies and portraiture.
