About Mandy Newsome

As a sculptor who has gained over 45 years experience, my initial exposure to the arts industry has,and is still influencing the way in which I create art.My parents June and Collin Gordon of Dyson Studio Australia; who along with the likes of Bendigo Pottery forged a path into the Australian art and ceramic industry in the early 50's, gave me a truly unique artistic environment for my passion to thrive at a young age.Sculpture is something that I was not taught; it was an art form that I grew up surrounded by.

Studied fine arts, Caulfield Technical College 1973-1975

Awards and exhibitions working primarily independently from my home based studio whilst raising four children; i have over the 20 past years worked towards producing and exhibiting clay based sculptures at various exhibitions throughout Australia and internationally at the Red Sea Gallery in Singapore.

My work is figurative in style and honest in its design and construction. Using stone ware, terracotta, and porcelain clay I have produced work that is articulate and commemorates of peoples lives, expressions and feelings. Consequently the malleable nature of clay allows me to celebrate the diversity of human spirit and structure, and allows me to produce art that is both unique and distinctly individual in style.
