About Maureen Norris

Maureen is a retired Registered Nurse who took up watercolour at the age of fifty-four for relaxation. Although she a traditional watercolourist she enjoys using novel and unconventional techniques. Creating and expressing a concept is really rewarding. Most of her inspiration has been drawn from the natural beauty of our coastline and the tranquil magic of the “High Country” North Eastern Victoria.

A member of Ringwood Art Society, Doncaster/Templestowe Art Society and Acacia Ridge Art Group, her paintings have sold steadily since 1997 through various exhibitions or commissions Australia-wide and overseas.

During that time Maureen has received numerous awards for her art works, her most recent awards being: First Place over all for Traditional Works, and Second Place for Non-Traditional Works in the Ringwood Art Society (2003); first place in the Veterans Affairs Art and Story writing Exhibition and the Naval Association prize 2003 (This painting was purchased by the Veterans Affairs and recently presented to the outgoing President of Veterens Affairs on his retirement).

Her most recent award being second place in advanced all media 2004 (This paintingwas also purchased by the Veterans Affairs and presented to 3 MP radio).
