About Melinda Ransom

Melinda’s first memories of childhood were her family creating beautiful things around her - her father painted & her mother working with soft furnishings. Her family gave her the confidence to express herself through many mediums.

Now Melinda has her own family and lets her two young children, Milli & Oliver express themselves in the same ways. Her studio is situated in the garden of their home so she can see the children playing, always on the look out for that special moment that she can capture in her works. The children are welcome to dabble also in the studio

Melinda’s creative energy has resulted in a prolific output of work across a range of media – painting, drawing, and embroidery. Her love for her family and of colour & movement has emerged from the desire to make a record of her young family’s innocence.

Her inspiration is, of course, her two beautiful children and the colours come from the huge collection of fabrics her mum has collected over the last 60 years.

Melinda finds her best work is created when she is happy and contented, her works seem to end up very black when she is feeling down.
