About Mesha Sendyk

Mesha Sendyk lives in the beautiful natural environment of Byron Bay– it is a Mecca for cinematographers, writers, web designers, musicians and visual artists. Mesha’s studio is surrounded by nature and animals. Her affinity with the unadulterated presence of her animals and the countryside create a springboard for the embracing attitude in her art.

Mesha seems to paint the connectivity that arises from both her immediate surroundings and an inner more global Zen consciousness.

With a mother who was a nurse and father a nuclear physicist, Mesha as a child was encouraged to enquire and learn about the physical universe. After leaving the Sydney Church of England Girl’s Grammar School, whose motto “Luceat Lux Vestra” (Let Your Light Shine) she apparently took to heart, she studied Fine Arts at East Sydney Technical College.

Living in Bangkok from 1989 – 1991, Mesha spent several years absorbing, working in and embracing a very different culture. Returning to Australia she completed a Science Degree majoring in Psychology and after graduating with Distinction she began practicing as a Psychologist.

Mesha became fascinated with multiple realities – psychological, emotional, philosophical, scientific, in a nutshell the world of possibilities, swirls of thought and inspiration; the realm in which the artist resides. During this time Mesha pursued her artistic practice.

Painting is a continuous and potent exploration platform for her responses to the Uber universe in which we live and the evidence of her place in it. She is fascinated with the technical aspects of painting and in her work she extends the boundaries of what is possible with different mediums beyond traditional boundaries.

Mesha’s wide net of enquiry covers Zen Buddhism, Astronomy, Divine Proportion, Quantum Physics, Psychology, Symbology all of which form the wellspring for her artistic practice. As she draws inspiration from her own life experience, and especially from the day-to-day-now-moment felt, sensed, her paintings are birthed, arise in the moment and are developed into the large format vigorous abstractions which are her signature works.
