About Neil Moorhouse
Neil paints in an impressionistic manner, with rich colouration and lively technique. Being a Graphic Artist by profession, his works always show a strong sense of design and tone. Coastal scenes, and Wilsons Promontory in particular have always been the focus of his painting, where he seeks to imbue the canvas with a strong sense of the prevailing light and weather conditions and their effect upon his subject.
He has attended workshops and classes with Herman Pekel, Peter Smales and studied for 4 years with Maxwell Wilks at the Victorian Artists Society. Neil has held 2 solo exhibitions, participated in numerous group shows and has been selected and hung as a finalist in the AME Bale Award (Oil Painting) on 3 occasions. He is currently working towards an exhibition of coastal scenes for March 2005.
In order to achieve greater integrity in his works, Neil is now also designing and hand making his frames exclusively, using native timber inlays and traditional oil gilding to achieve a truly unique creative result.
