About Sandra Michelle Knight
I am a Multi Award Winning Artist who thrives on artistic challenges. Coming from a creative family I was exposed to artistic pursuits at an early age and found in drawing a satisfying pastime that my parents actively encouraged. Later on I completed an Art and Design course covering the principles of perspective, anatomy, drawing from life, design principles, colour theory etc. I was unable to take up painting due to family and work commitments till many years later.
I have been exhibiting, selling and winning awards for my work for about 20 years and consider myself as self-taught in many respects. Along the way I have gained my painting knowledge through watching demonstrations, doing workshops and years of personal experimentation.
For many years I worked in Pastel, but now prefer Mixed Media, Acrylic and Oil on stretched canvas. My work has become more abstracted in recent years, but I still believe the traditional basics as being essential to diversify and progress.
My inspiration for self expression is a spontaneous reaction to colour, movement, and light in the world around me, which I endeavour to transfer to canvas in a way which inspires and uplifts the viewer.
I am currently a Featured Artist on Bluethumb and Artlovers web sites and also exhibit at many local art exhibitions and shows.
