About Sue Gillett

Susan is a Melbourne based artist. She enjoys painting the natural environment and organic material using mixed media, acrylic and ink. She often uses a wash effect overlayed with line drawing and pattern in emphasis. Susan grew up in Sydney attending the Julian Ashton School to study life drawing in her twenties, and practiced ceramics under ceramicist Verney Watts. Later she studied at the School of Colour and Design in Sydney. In Melbourne Susan joined a group of artists under the guidance of artist Janice McBride and has been with the group for several years, and also spent 3 years learning tonal painting technique, using oils with Don James.
