Taro – Artist Profile Tanya Robertson produces artworks under the signature of Taro. Her career background is in architecture & interior design having run her own practice for some twenty years. Now, a recent 'drop out' from the commercial world she produces visually simple & uncomplicated contemporary abstract artworks intended to compliment the more modernistic surroundings of today. She is self-taught and relies on her own passions and creative instincts to meld colour and texture into her pieces. She uses acrylic paint as a base to her works but at random combines other mediums & varied techniques to create her more distinctive art pieces. In many ways, her metamorphosis from the architectural world into a self proclaimed 'artist' began as a therapeutic 'need' which has since evolved into a journey where she finds inner peace and fulfilment through her painting and intends to mark her new found career path with further studies in visual arts and curatorship. Tanya has exhibited her works at various reputable galleries at such locations as Byron Bay, Queensland’s’ Gold Coast, the Mornington Peninsular, the southern Otway’s and Central Melbourne. Her works are intended to give instant visual gratification and the viewer is invited to stand back, to appreciate the play of light on her canvas, to absorb the texture, the colour and the movement in each piece and to seek a further depth and meaning to reflect their own thoughts and dreams.
