I present to you two of my current acrylic paintings on stretched canvas, Early Morning Laps and Bathed in Aquamarine. Both artworks feature beautiful, old, stone sea baths which have resisted the continual ocean poundings for years and years. Both depict lone swimmers, who are regular swimmers in these sea baths. Early Morning Laps depicts a man continually swimming laps in the cool deep waters. Bathed in Aquamarine shows a lady exiting the enclosed pool refreshed and ready for the day. Her translucent skin contrasts with the cool aqua waters of the sea baths and the unsettled surge beyond.

I am constantly thinking about art and how blessed I am to be able to create anything at all from an initial thought or a beautiful moment in time. I am not bound to a particular style and create a range of works from abstract, linear nudes, portraits, landscapes and seascapes. I do love colour and texture and try to create artwork that creates an emotion for me and for the viewer. It's a compelling journey that is leading me to interpret many happy memories and locations of my past. More and more of oceans, pools and beaches.

Creating art has been part of my life for as long as I can remember. I learned to draw and paint in art classes both at school and outside of school in Sydney from a young age and achieved a Level 1 art accreditation in the New South Wales Higher School Certificate.

Since school, whilst not employed in the art industry, I continued drawing and painting for pleasure. I studied oil painting for 12 months at East Sydney Technical College and participated in many art classes, with a particular interest in life drawing and the female form.

I spent much of my childhood and youth at Era Beach in the Royal National Park where the bush, beach and ocean were part of my being. For many years I sailed on Sydney Harbour and Pittwater and basked on Sydney beaches. The many moods of the ocean and human interactions with nature inspire me greatly.

During my 12 years in country Victoria, Mansfield, I continued to paint and draw, tutored and untutored. I studied art in various classes at the Mansfield Adult Continuing Education Centre. As Centre Coordinator of the Mansfield Community Centre and my interest in art, I was able to facilitate art classes with locally renowned artists and further my study in graphite, acrylics, pastels and watercolours.

I lived at the foot of Mt Buller and worked on the mountain. The spectacular and ever-changing alpine scenery and the vast array of atmospheric effects of the snow, the High Country and breathtaking views across the valley inspired me greatly.

I have lived in Melbourne for 11 years during which time I continued with my artwork and participated regularly in life drawing classes at the No Vacancy Gallery in the city.

Since 2018 I have been able to devote more time each week to my lifetime dream of exploring, learning and creating more art.
