Helen Goodear has been painting and exhibiting for over twelve years.
Born in Far Northern New South Wales, she studied in Sydney and in
Brisbane, gaining a Diploma of Teaching, with a major in expressive and
performing arts.
There followed several influential years of travel throughout Australia,
Asia and Europe, living and working in London and Auckland before
settling in Melbourne.
Her work encompasses sharp macro oil pastels of botanical subjects;
through to vibrant soft pastels of still life and landscape; to pen and
wash architectural themes and to soft floral and rural watercolours.
"I am always concerned with the relationship between the colours and the
movement of my subjects. I don't tend to see still life as 'still' at
all."
